Our Process

Before anything gets designed, we take time to understand what you actually need. We ask questions, listen carefully, and help you think through your goals, your budget, and what's realistic given your site and local regulations. This early work saves time and money later, and it sets the whole project on solid footing.

Space Planning

Once we understand the goals, we start sketching. Floor plan studies help you see how spaces relate to each other, how much room you actually need, and what the project will feel like to move through. These early plans are simple and easy to react to — that's the point.

Master Planning

For larger or longer-horizon projects, we develop a master plan that maps out the full picture. This includes phasing, long-term budgeting, and how future growth fits within the site. It's a roadmap that keeps decisions coordinated over time, even when construction happens in stages.

Design

This is where the project takes shape. We study the overall form, materials, and character of the building, working through options with you until the direction feels right. We typically produce renderings and visual walkthroughs that make the design easy to understand and share with others, including boards, donors, or approving bodies.

Permit Drawings

Turning a design into a permitted set of drawings is a process we know well. We coordinate with structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, civil, and other engineers as needed to produce a complete, code-compliant drawing set. Our experience with local jurisdictions means we know what reviewers are looking for and how to keep things moving.

Bidding Support

When it's time to select a contractor, we help you navigate the process. We issue the project documents to qualified contractors, field their questions, and help you evaluate bids side by side. Price matters, but so does experience and fit — we help you make a confident choice.

Construction Administration

Our involvement doesn't stop when construction starts. We make regular site visits, review contractor submittals, respond to field questions, and track the work against the contract documents. If something comes up — and something always does — we're there to work through it with you and the contractor. Our goal is that what gets built matches what was designed.
